Easy SkyMesh uses LoRa as the long range (2–15 km) wireless technology and Meshtastic router / repeaters to further extend the wireless range for IoT devices.
To further expand the network coverage, we use Meshtastic routers / repeaters:
- To extend communication range: If Node A is 12 km from Node B, and they can’t reach each other directly, a router / repeater placed in between can bridge that gap.
- To improve network reliability: If one path fails (e.g., a node goes offline), a router / repeater provides an alternate route.
- To support battery devices: Battery devices can go to deepsleep to save power. Repeaters do the heavy lifting — they are usually solar- or mains-powered and always on.

Usecases
It is recommended to use a repeater if:
- Devices are more than 3–5 km apart in complex terrain.
- You want to relay messages across hills, valleys, or buildings.
- You want to make a battery-powered sensor/handheld more efficient.
- You are building an emergency backup or off-grid system.

Recommended devices
It is recommended to use commercial router / repeaters for commercial projects for better reliability and support.
