This guide will help to understand how to extend cables for antennas which are used in LoRaWAN gateways and nodes.

LMR400 is strongly recommended for extension cables:

  • Buy LMR400 cables
  • LMR400 has low signal loss and strong for outdoor environment. 50Ohm cables are recommended for LoRa/LoRaWAN.
  • Do not use RG-8 or RG-174 due to high signal attenuation.
  • Do not use adapters to switch from 1 connector type to another connector type.
  • LMR400, RG-8, RG-213 and RG-214 have the same cable diameter and share similar connector types.
